He is the Vice-President of the Hellenic Venture Capital Association and the Vice President of the Greek-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Dr. Dimitris Gritzalis (dgrit@aueb.gr) is an Associate Professor of ICTSecurity and the Director of the Information Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection Research Group (www.cis.aueb.gr) with the Dept. of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece. He holds a B.Sc. (Mathematics, Univ. of Patras), a M.Sc. (Computer Science, City University of New York), and a Ph.D. (Critical Information Systems Security, Univ. of the Aegean).

He has served as Associate Commissioner of the Greek Data Protection Commission, as well as the President of the Greek Computer Society. For more than 25 years he has been participa-ting in numerous R&D and consulting projects funded by the European Commission, interna-tional organizations (EUROPOL, CEN), Public Administration (Ministries of: the State, Go-vernment, Economy, Healthcare, Education, Social Security, etc.), private institutions (Bank-ing, Transportation, Telecommunication, Health, Energy, etc.). His technical publications include seven books and more than 120 papers. His current research interests focus mainly on security in ambient intelligence, critical infrastructure protection and security in VoIP.

Ioanna Samprakou holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering and Informatics, a M.Sc. in Computer Science and Technology (Univ. of Patras), and a Diploma in Business Management (Kariera Business Seminars). She is also a PhD candidate in "Computer Technology and Science” (Univ. of Patras) and a Professional MBA candidate (ALBA Business School). She has a number of scientific publications and also holds a US patent in the field of wireless networks.

She is Advisor to the Minister of Transport and Communications, while previously worked as a Telecommunications Engineer at the Greek Ministry of Transport and Communications. She was previously occupied as Senior Wireless Technologies Engineer for Atmel Hellas S.A. as a member of the System Concepts Group of Multimedia & Communications Division (Atmel MMC). She has also served as an R&D Engineer at the Unit 6 (RU6) “Networks, Telematics, & New Services” of the Research and Academic Computer Technology Institute (RACTI), and at the ‘Distributed Systems, Telematics & New Services Laboratory’ (Univ. of Patras). She is also an Evaluator in National and EU ICT Proposals (OPIS, FP7, ICT PSP).

Christos Moschonas is Greek Public Administration Network Technical Director since 2000. He has a bachelor degree in Computer Science from Patras Polytechnic and an MSc Degree in Telecoms from Athens Univercity. His main interests involve Computer Networking & IP telephony in Enterprise Networks and Computer Networks Security & Economics. He has designed numerous large scale network solutions and has good knowledge of Greek and European Telecoms Market.

He is National Coordinator for transeuropean secure network named s-TESTA and teaches network architectures to Computer Engineers since 1995. He is the author of lots of networking technical articles and is currently working in Information Society S.A. as a chief network Engineer and Telecoms Coordinator.

Konstantinos Rantos received his Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics in 1996 from the University of Patras, Greece, his M.Sc. in Information Security in 1997 and his Ph.D., under the supervision of Prof. Chris Mitchell (sponsored by Marie Curie Research and Training Grant), in 2001 from Royal Holloway, University of London. Between 1997 and 1999 he was involved in an EU ACTS project concerning security for third generation mobile communications. In 2001 he joined Datacard Group as a smart card security architect until 2003 when he joined Encode S.A. as a security consultant contributing to a number of security related projects.
 

He has worked as an adjunct professor at the Industrial Informatics and Information Management Departments of the Technological Educational Institute of Kavala and as a lecturer at the Democritus University of Thrace (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) and at the University of Central Greece (Department of Informatics with Appliances in Biomedicine).

He is currently working as a scientific officer at the Informatics Development Agency of the General Secretariat of Public Administration and E-Government at the Hellenic Ministry of Interior.

His scientific interests lie in the areas of public-key infrastructures, e-government, smart cards, security awareness, key management, and security protocol design. He is a reviewer to a number of scientific journals.

Yannis Charalabidis
Yannis Charalabidis is a Computer Engineer and holds a PhD in Complex Information Systems Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He has been an executive director in Singular IT Group, occupying the positions of Director in Projects Division, Product Development Director, VP Strategy and Deputy General Manager. He has also been the Managing Director of Baan Eastern Europe Localisation Centre SA, based in Poland and Netherlands. Previous employments include Siemens-Nixdorf GmbH and Bull SA.
 

Currently he is Head of e-Government & eBusiness Research in the Decision Support Systems Laboratory of NTUA, planning and coordinating high-level policy making, research and application projects for Governments and Administrations Worldwide. His scientific and technological interests include e-Government Interoperability and Standardization, eParticipation and Government Transformation.

He is a contributing member in several eGovernment and eBusiness standardization committees, including CEN/ISSS eGov, ETSI/B2B Interoperability Standardisation, INTEROP-VLAB Standardisation Committee, NESSI iGOV Working Group, DEMONET eParticipation Network, European Commission Interoperability Cluster (as an editor of the Enterprise Interoperability Research Roadmap), IDABC/EIF, and IFIP WG 8.5 on Public Administration Systems. During the last 20 years he has been involved as a project manager or key executive in more than 50 projects under the ESPRIT, Brite-EUram, FP6-FP7 programmes and National Initiatives in European Union Member States, Asia and the US.

He has published more than 100 papers in scientific books, journals and conferences, and he lectures on eGovernment, eBusiness and Interoperability in the National Technical University of Athens and the University of the Aegean. He is Best Paper Award winner of the eGOV 2008 Conference (DEXA, IFIP) on eGovernment Transformation.

Ray has over 40 years of experience in the ICT security and information assurance areas and has worked within both the government and commercial environments. Formally educated in ICT based Systems Organisation and Management and with his extensive experience as an engineer, project manager, operations manager and policy developer Ray has been involved in, and delivered, a number of large scale projects.

As Policy Director at the Global Trust Center, Ray has been involved in the development of Global Trust Center policies and has recently been engaged in the development of the Biometric Policy set. He continues to deliver industry specific policies against a range of user requirements. Ray has represented the government and commercial organisations in a number of international meetings addressing ICT security and information assurance topics.

Prior to that he held the position of Technology Director and had the responsibility of strategy on technology issues as well as the evangelism of new technologies in the market, with emphasis on the technical audiences. Mr. Theodossopoulos works in the field of technology since 1986 and has participated in numerous projects and implementations of integrated information systems in Greece and abroad. Dr. Christos K. Dimitriadis is the Security Officer of INTRALOT S.A, working in the area of IT security for more than 8 years. Dimitriadis has been invited by several organizations to provide lectures, including the ITU, US-NIST and several agencies of the European Union.

He has more than 40 publications in the area of IT security, while his research interests include biometrics, 3G and 4G security architectures, identity management, Honeynets and security protocol design and testing. Dimitriadis received a diploma of Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras-Greece, a PhD on Information Security from the University of Piraeus-Greece and is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). ALJOSA PASIC works as a department director in Atos Research & Innovation, based in Madrid, Spain. He graduated Information technology at Electro technical Faculty of Technical University Eindhoven, The Netherlands. He worked for Cap Gemini (Utrecht, The Netherlands) before joining Sema Group Spain (now part of Atos Origin) in 1998.

During the past ten years, he coordinated several and participated in many other EU research projects from FP4, FP5, FP6 and FP7 programmes. Since 2003 he is also certified as Project Manager Professional (PMP) and is a member of several Working Groups in international organisations such as PMI, ENISA or IFIP. Mr Iosif I. Androulidakis is Head of Telephony Department in the Network Operations Center of the University of Ioannina. He holds a BSc in Physics and an MSc in Electronics for which he was awarded the Greek State’s Scholarships Foundation outstanding performance prize. He has an active presence in the ICT security field, authoring relevant publications and having presented lectures in international conferences and seminars in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Lithuania, the United Arab Emirates and Slovenia.

His research interests focus on security issues in PBXs (private telephony networks, where he has more than 15 years of experience) as well as in mobile phones and embedded systems. Recent collaborations include OTE’s Security & Fraud Control Division, Greek Fiscal and Economic Investigation Service (SDOE), the European Public Law Center, the Media and private security consulting firms.

He is a member of: IEEE and IEEE TSCP (Technical Committee on Security & Privacy), ACM and ACM SIGSAC (Special Interest Group on Security Audit & Control), Greek Computer Society, IARIA and others. Evangelos Ouzounis, Senior Expert - IT Security Policies Technical Department European Network and Information Security Agency - ENISA
Presentation title: "Enhancing the Resilience of public eCommunications Networks – ENISA’s Approach"

Evangelos Ouzounis
Dr. Evangelos OUZOUNIS is a senior expert at ENISA, the European Network Information Security Agency. He is responsible for the security policy section of the Technical Department of the Agency. The section contributes to the multi thematic program one, Resilience of public eCommunication Networks and develops position papers on emerging technical issues like mobile eIDs, social networking, virtual worlds and privacy issues of mobile eID cards.

Dr. Ouzounis’ personal contribution is on policy and regulatory issues related to the resilience of public eCommunication Networks. Recently, he published a comprehensive stock taking of 23 countries’ national policy and regulatory environments. His work will continue with the analysis of stock taking findings and the development of pan European good practices in areas like breach notification management, information sharing schemes, preparedness measures, etc.

Prior to his position at ENISA, Dr. Ouzounis worked several years as a project officer at the European Commission, DG Information Society and Media (DG INFSO). He significantly contributed to the development of DG INFSO’s strategy and policy related to secure application provision (e.g. eGovernment, eBusiness and eHealth), eIds, and secure software development.

Dr. Ouzounis was co-founder of Electronic Commerce Centre of Competence (ECCO) at Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FhG-FOKUS, Berlin, Germany). He led and managed more than 20 pan European and International R&D projects in the areas of virtual organisations, secure distributed middleware, intelligent agents and web services. He was a lecturer at Technical University of Berlin, wrote 2 books and more than 20 peer reviewed academic papers and chaired several international conferences.

Dr. Ouzounis holds a Ph.D from the Technical University of Berlin and a master from the Technical University of Patras in computer engineering and informatics. He is married and has one daughter.

Ioannis K. Mavridis is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems Security at the University of Macedonia, Department of Applied Informatics. He holds a Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras (1985) and a Doctor's degree in Mobile Computing Security from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Ph.D., 2000), Greece. He has been teaching informatics and information systems security for the last eight years.

He is member of the Greek Computer Society, the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Working Group 11.3 on Database Security of International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). He has participated in several research projects working on the area of IT security. His research interests include the areas of information system and network security, mobile computing and semantic web. He has published over 70 scientific articles in these fields and co-written a book on information system and network security.

Diana Šimić
Diana Šimić, Ph.D. is the Chair of the Electronic South Eastern Europe (eSEE) Initiative of the Regional Cooperation Council (regional successor to the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe). In the last five years she held positions of the Deputy State Secretary at the Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia and Assistant Minister responsible for Information Society at the Ministry for Science and Technology of the Republic of Croatia.

In these capacities she participated in drafting and implementation of national policy and strategic documents related to the development of information society in Croatia, including the One-Stop-Shop (HITRO.hr) Strategy (2004), National Programme of Information Security in the Republic of Croatia (2005), Broadband Strategy (2006) and e-Business Strategy (2007).

She participated in negotiation of Croatia’s accession to EU in the area of information society and media, and in the preparation of the World Summit on Information Society (2002-2005). Her current activities include teaching at the University of Zagreb, sitting on the Management Council of the University Computing Centre (SRCE) in Zagreb, chairing the Supervisory Boards of the Information Systems and Information Technologies Support Agency (APIS IT Ltd.) in Zagreb and the Centre for e-Governance Development in Ljubljana, and consulting.

Mr. Blaž GOLOB is a founding Director of the Centre for eGovernance Development for South East Europe established during the Slovenian EU Presidency in May 2008. Centre is a Public Private Partnership established by Regional Cooperation Council RCC (former Stability Pact), Government of the Republic of Slovenia, UNDP, European Foundation for eGovernment-Spain, INA Academy-Greece, Microsoft, Siemens-Austria and SRC.SI private company.

Mr. Golob is the president of the Bled Forum on Europe Research Association (www.bled-forum.org) which organises every year an international conference on future challenges and responses of European Union. Mr. Golob is a member of the Planning Committee of the Millennium Project (www.millennium-project.org) which publishes annual State of the Future Report on 15 Global Challenges and a Chair of the Millennium Project Node in Slovenia. Mr. Golob’s fields of expertises are European affairs, foresight (futures studies), policy making and law.


He graduated in Ljubljana at Faculty of Law, made his specialisation on European Law at Cambridge University and continued his PhD studies. During his past work experiences he worked as an editor for business and legal magazines GV publishing house in Ljubljana (1993-1996), as a president of international law related NGO in Brussels (1996) and as high level official (Undersecretary) for various ministries of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and Slovenian Research Agency (1997-2008) during the accession of Slovenia to the EU.

Between 2000 and 2003 Mr. Golob worked for the European Commission Joint Research Centre (IPTS), where he was a member of the Commission’s Enlargement Futures team. He is an author of the European Commission research/report on; S&T Institutions and S&T Policies in the EU Acceding Countries; Challenges for the Development of the Knowledge Based Economy (EC 2004).

Sokratis K. Katsikas was born in Athens, Greece, in 1960. He received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece in 1982, the Master of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Amherst, USA, in 1984 and the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering & Informatics from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece in 1987.

In May 2007 he joined the Department of Technology Education and Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus, as a Professor. In the period 1990-2007 he was with the University of the Aegean, Greece, where he served as Rector (2003-2006), Vice-Rector for Finances and Development (1997-2003), Head of the Dept. of Information & Communication Systems Engineering (1997-1998 & 2000), Head of the Dept. of Statistics and Actuarial-Financial Mathematics (2003-2006) and Professor of the Department of Information & Communication Systems Engineering. He was the founder and Director (until 2005) of the Laboratory for the Security of Information and Communication Systems.

He has participated in more than 60 European and national R&D projects in the area of information and communication systems security. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 journal publications, book chapters and conference proceedings publications in his areas of interest.
He served as a member of the Board of the Hellenic Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (2006-2008). He is a member of the pool of experts of the Institutional Evaluation Programme of the European University Association, a member of the Hellenic Authority for Information and Communication Security and Privacy and the national representative of Greece to the Programme Committee of the “People” Programme of the EU 7th Framework Programme for R&D.

Ilias Chantzos is in charge of Symantec’s Government Relations and Public Affairs programmes for Europe, Middle East, Africa as well as the Asia, Pacific and Japan Regions. He is based in Brussels.Chantzos represents Symantec before government bodies, national authorities and international organisations advising on public policy issues with particular regard to IT security and availability issues.

Chantzos is a member of the Executive Board of AeA Europe. He was also recently appointed member of the Permanent Stakeholders Group of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA). He was chair of the European Policy Council of Business Software Alliance for two consecutive terms. Chantzos is regularly invited as a speaker to conferences and events on public policy, information security and privacy.

Before joining Symantec in 2004, Chantzos worked as legal and policy officer in the Directorate General Information Society of the European Commission. His tasks were mainly focused around information security policy. He covered the Council of Europe Cybercrime Convention and the Framework Decision on Attacks against Information Systems. Furthermore he worked on a number of EU legislative initiatives relevant to information society and information security, including the directives on Privacy on Electronic Communications and the European Network and Information Security Agency. Chantzos represented the European Commission in various international forums and conferences.

Veronica Samara holds an MSC and a PHD degree in computer science from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. in the period 1988-1993 she worked in Germany at the technical University of Darmstadt, at the company software ag, as well as at the Fraunhofer institute for computer graphics, as member of the scientific core.

In the period 1993-1997 she obtained positions as project co-ordinator and as multimedia systems consultant in the companies Intracom, Eurocom, and Exodus, in Greece. Since 1997, she has been heading the research & development department of extreme media solutions, in Athens, Greece, as one of its two owners. Since 2007, Ms. Samara is managing director of the non-profit organisation safer internet hellas.

Since 1993, Ms. Samara has been working in various national and european projects, especially in the Esprit, Impact, Delta, Telematics, Acts, Leonardo da vinci, Socrates, and IST frameworks. Since 2001, Ms. Samara and her team have been actively involved in the safer internet framework, first in the projects Sifkal and Safeborders, and since 2004, in the Greek safer internet awareness projects Safenethome and Safenethomeplus. Since 2007, Ms. Samara is in charge of the Greek safer internet awareness campaign ‘saferinternet.gr’.

Stavros Karaguloglou
Stavros Karaguloglou is born in Constantinopolis, where he attended the German Lyceum. He continued his studies at the RWTH Technical University in AACHEN, Germany as an Electrical Engineer, specializing in the Telecommunications. There he received his bachelor’s and then his Master’s Degree with thesis on telematics applications in vehicle traffic pattern recognition (1982).

He has acquired approximately 20 years of experience in the telecom market, most of it in SIEMENS – in the sectors of product management, marketing and sales for telecom products and services through various positions in Germany, Greece and UK, the latest of them the position of the Sales Director for Enterprise Telecom in Greece.

In 2001 he established SMARTAXIS SA, a company specializing in data network security, and since then he is running the company as Managing Director.

SMARTAXIS’ portfolio of products and services are carrier and large enterprise grade and emphasize on Complete Secure Network Solutions for wired, wireless and hybrid networks, SSL VPN, Integrated Firewall/IPsec VPN, Radius – ΑΑΑ, Unified Access Control, Endpoint Integrity, Session Control & Law Enforcement in Public Networks, Special applications like SIM based authentication in wireless hotspots, Application Acceleration, Carrier Grade Switching, Consulting on Security and Telecom issues.

Mr. Lives and works in Athens, Greece. He is father to two boys of 14 and 17 years.
