South Eastern Europe Telecommunication and Informatics Research Institute (INA) following the success of the 1st and 2nd Forums on electronic security is organizing the 3rd Regional Electronic Security Forum: Telecommunications Networks and Systems Security, which will be held in Thessaloniki on 11 & 12 October 2007.
The eSecurity Forum is organized under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace and the Special Secretariat of Digital Planning of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Microsoft and OTE are Grand Sponsor and Sponsor of the Forum respectively.
Fundamental objective of the Conference is to contribute to public awareness raising and information dissemination in Northern Greece and the wider region of South-eastern Europe and the East Mediterranean, where similar opportunities are limited, on critical issues related to electronic security in communications networks and services. Distinguished Greek and International speakers will discuss security in electronic banking and economic transactions, in broadband services and the various dimensions of electronic focusing on the individual, the technological and institutional infrastructures. The Conference will examine, with the presence of the Special Secretary of Digital Planning, professor Mr Vasilis Asimakopoulos, the initiative of the Greek government under the frame of the Digital Strategy 2006 - 2013 towards the establishment of the DART – ‘Digital Awareness and Response to Threats’ task force, as well as INA’s efforts for the creation of a Network of Computer emergency response teams in the countries of South-eastern Europe, where the Institute has long-lasting experience. Interventions will be made, apart from the Chairman of Microsoft SE Europe, Mr. Goran Radman, by International experts from Sweden, Egypt, Turkey, FYROM, Cyprus, Malta etc., but also by representatives of the European Commission, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA).
Expert speakers coming from the electronic Banking sector, the ISPs, and representatives of the Greek Authorities responsible for electronic communications and transactions will highlight different aspects of electronic security, provide answers to critical questions and propose solutions. The conference is expected to attract a great number of participants from Greece and SEE countries.
